The Next AKRI Dialogues and AKRI’s 50th Anniversary

Who wants to help organize the party?

The past few months have seen two exciting celebrations of the rich history of GR work in the world.  OFEK celebrated its 30th Anniversary over a long weekend in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and the Tavistock Institute held a weeklong Festival in London to recognize its 70th Anniversary.

These were pretty amazing events.  A. B. Yehoshua, a celebrated Israeli novelist and international literary figure, gave a keynote at the OFEK event, and the Tavistock hosted dozens of luminaries from its early years on panels that told the rich history of the Institute.  (Jack Marmorstein represented AKRI at the Tavistock event in London and wrote up a detailed report on the panels and speeches he saw on his personal blog, here

All this brings us to 2019 and the celebration of AKRI’s 50th Anniversary.  2019 is also the year of the next AKRI Dialogues, and the Board has decided to use the 2019 Dialogues as an occasion to recognize this milestone and as an opportunity to reflect on our past, our present and our future.  We hope the entire AKRI community joins us in getting excited about another Dialogues (we’ve found these events to be important and energizing occasions for the AKRI membership to get together, share ideas, experiences, research, and companionship).  And we hope everyone is even more excited for a major anniversary, and for all that there is to celebrate in the people, experiences and ideas that have made AKRI what it is.

In preparation for this event, the Board will be looking for a Dialogues Committee Chair, as well as Dialogues Committee members.  If any of you are interested, please let us know.  We think this presents a unique moment to do something really amazing.  We’d love to hear your ideas and welcome your participation, in any role.   Please email ([email protected]) or let us know in the comments section below if you’re interested.  Thank you, and here’s to an amazing 2019!
